Gyms and saunas in Prague: Daniel's local tips

Clients often ask me where to work out in Prague and where to unwind in a sauna after a long day exploring the city. Here are a few suggestions from my own experience.

This is personal for me, too. I live and work here, and I try to make time for a good workout and a sauna at least twice a week. These are the places and practical details I suggest checking before you go.

🏋️‍♂️ Gyms to consider for a one-off visit

Xplore Fitness: in the city centre

One of my personal favourites: a large, central gym that is convenient for visitors.

Before visiting, check the conditions for a single-entry ticket and how long it remains valid.

Check which classes are included and whether advance registration is required.

Lockers, showers and a well-organised setting.

The gym has several floors:

Cardio: treadmills, bikes, stair machines and similar equipment.

Free weights, resistance machines and training areas.

Studios for classes and a boxing area.

Check the gym's current price list for a day visit.

A convenient option if you are staying in the centre.

Form Factory: a network of gyms across the city

If you want a gym that is easy to find, Form Factory has several branches in Prague.

A range of training equipment.

Wellness and sauna facilities vary by branch.

Check whether single-entry or short-term passes are currently available.

A practical option for a workout during your trip.

Max Fitness: including the Bílá Labuť branch near the centre

Another option to consider if you want to combine exercise and relaxation.

A well-organised gym.

A range of training machines.

Ask the branch whether it has a sauna and whether access is included in your ticket.

A pleasant way to spend part of a winter day: work out, relax and return to your sightseeing.

🧖‍♂️ Visiting a sauna in Prague: what to know

A useful point for visitors:

Sauna customs in Czechia may differ from those you are used to.

Some sauna facilities are swimsuit-free. Check the venue's dress rules before visiting.

What should you bring or use?

Venues may provide a towel, sheet or bathrobe, either included or for an extra charge. Follow the venue's instructions for each area.

Use the sheet or towel as instructed inside the sauna, including underneath your body and feet. Ask staff about replacements if needed.

Another point to keep in mind:

Some visitors are comfortable being uncovered in sauna areas. This is part of the local approach at some venues, so bear it in mind if the custom is new to you.

Quieter times may suit you better; ask the venue when it tends to be less busy.

Some venues also offer:

💆‍♂️ Massages, treatments and spa services. Check availability and book ahead if required.

🔥 Sauna and spa ideas in and around Prague

Saunia: several branches in Prague

Saunia has several city locations. Sauna types and facilities differ by branch, so choose according to the location and the experience you want.

Check which saunas, relaxation areas and water facilities are available at your chosen branch.

Some locations hold sauna ceremonies; check their timetable.

A place to take a break and unwind.

Saunas Vltava: a riverside option

A riverside location to consider.

Check the venue's current facilities and entry conditions before visiting.

Sauna facilities.

Relaxation space.

Ask which water and cooling facilities are currently available.

Hotel wellness centres and spas

If you would like a pool, hot tub, spa and sauna together:

Some Prague hotels offer wellness facilities.

Massage treatments may be available separately.

A pleasant option after a day of sightseeing.

Infinit Sen: wellness outside Prague

If you feel like taking a short trip outside the city, consider this option.

Check Infinit Sen's location, transport options and tickets before travelling.

Allow time to enjoy the surroundings as well as the wellness experience.

It may fit into a day trip outside Prague, depending on your route.

One tip: check whether admission prices change according to entry time, day of the week or visit duration.
